Parents from Tallinn who got tired of bad toys — so we built a shop of things we’re not ashamed of.
It started with a box of broken toys. Bright plastic that loudly promised “development”, beeped through the whole flat — and quietly fell apart by day three. One day we looked at that box and realised: we keep buying things that neither we nor our son actually like.
So we started looking for something else. Things that feel good in the hand, don’t ask for batteries and survive the first “what happens if I…”. Things you can hand down to a younger sibling — and maybe, one day, to their kids.
It turns out such things exist. They are made by small workshops across Europe: joineries, family manufactures, studios of a few people. They just don’t have advertising budgets, so on big marketplaces you never see them behind the mountains of plastic.
Leola Kids is our shelf of such finds. There is one rule, and it is very simple: if we wouldn’t buy a thing for our own son, it doesn’t get in.
How we choose
Safety first
We check certificates and materials before a thing enters the catalog. When in doubt — we pass.
Honest materials
Wood, cotton, soft silicone. Things that are pleasant to touch and safe to chew on.
As if for our own
One filter for everything: would we buy this for our son? That’s stricter than any standard.
For years, not a season
A good thing outlives one child. We pick the ones that stay in the family.
What we don’t do
- We don’t sell everything. If we wouldn’t buy a thing for our own child, it’s not in the catalog — no matter how well it would sell.
- We don’t write “only 2 left” when it isn’t true.
- We don’t paint “70% off” on a price raised the day before.
- We don’t ask you to register for what can be given away for free.
Where the things come from
We are not a factory and not a giant warehouse. The things in our catalog are made by small European workshops — from the Baltics to Central Europe: joineries, family manufactures, studios of a few people.
We find them, check certificates and materials, and write honest descriptions in three languages. We don’t advertise the workshops’ names — the curation and the responsibility are ours: if something is wrong with a thing from our catalog, we answer to you.
Why we built ten free tools
We did the math: parents google kids’ clothing sizes most often around two in the morning. So we made a size calculator — no sign-up, no “leave your email”, just use it. Then shoes, sleep, growth percentiles… Now there are ten.
It’s not advertising. It’s the same principles at work: useful things for parents should be free.
